On 28th June 1746, Flora MacDonald and her maid Betty Burke, sailed over the sea to Skye. The maid was Bonnie Prince Charlie, who was fleeing after his defeat at the Battle of Culloden. It is for this act that Flora is remembered, but this biography also covers her life in 1770s America.
